2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series P ONE Edition
Description
Key Points: Paint Protection Film (PPF) Applied To Whole Car, P ONE Edition including Painted Stars Livery.
Since AMG was founded in 1967, they have aimed to make Mercedes-Benz cars as fast and enjoyable as possible. Typically this means putting a massive V8 in an otherwise average road car. AMG decided to break this trend in 2010 and create an entirely new car from the ground up. The SLS AMG was a front-engined, 2-seater grand tourer. This car featured, at the time, the most powerful naturally aspirated production series engine ever produced.
Once the SLS finished production in 2014, it made way for the AMG GT to take its place. The AMG GT was made using the same front-engined, rear-wheel drive formula as the SLS, only now using the 4.0 Twin-Turbocharged V8 in the C63, E63, and all other AMG models since 2014.
The standard AMG GT is a sleek, classy grand tourer designed to give the driver a blissfully comfortable experience with a phenomenal V8 under-foot when needed. In 2021 however, AMG unveiled the AMG GT Black Series, a pure, high-performance variant of the GT. The twin-turbo V8 is now tuned to produce 720 horsepower and 800nm of torque.
As well as all this extra power, the styling cannot go unnoticed. Take the sleek, smooth lines of the standard GT and completely revamp them with new wings, fins, and carbon fibre as far as the eye can see. A new deployable front splitter is now added to give unrivalled downforce to the front end. A new carbon fibre bonnet with two huge scoops designed to draw air directly through the front radiator to help cool the V8. All of this is tied together with an enormous double-decker carbon fibre rear wing designed to keep the back end planted at any speed.
All of these performance upgrades mean the AMG GT Black Series was able to accomplish the fastest lap ever achieved by a road-legal production car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series P One Edition is a limited-production special offered exclusively to the 275 customers who had placed an order for the Formula 1-engined AMG One hypercar, as a reward for their patience following delays in the development of its 1.6-litre V6 powertrain.
Inspired by Mercedes' 2019 W10 Formula 1 car, each P One edition features a unique black and silver colour scheme, with accents on the skirts and wheels in the Petronas team colours. As standard, the wheels are a staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear set up. Inside, each car features sport seats wrapped in black leather and Alcantara, with Teal accents and contrast stitching.
The P One Edition features the same powertrain as the standard AMG GT Black Series; a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 producing 720 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, which drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a limited-slip differential.
