2018 Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge
Description
Key Points: Rolls Royce Warranty, Paint Protection Film (PPF) Applied To Whole Car, Rolls-Royce Bespoke Audio.
The Rolls-Royce Dawn is a luxury convertible grand tourer, originally announced at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show as a replacement for the Phantom Drophead Coupé. Based on the Ghost, it marks the last open top combustion car made by Rolls-Royce.
Standard equipment includes power-closing rear-hinged coach doors, self-adjusting air suspension, adaptive LED headlights, cruise control with curve detection, and a surround-view camera. Standard safety features include stability control and ABS.
The Black Badge is a performance-oriented edition of the Dawn. The chrome exterior features are painted high-gloss black, including the bonnet line, boot lid finisher, front grille, and the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy. It has the same BMW ‘N74’ twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre V12 as the standard car, but it now delivers 593bhp (up from 563bhp) and 620lb ft (up from 605lb ft), resulting in a 0-62mph time of 4.9-seconds.
Underneath, the suspension gets an upgrade, along with a more responsive throttle and eight-speed automatic gearbox (which uses GPS to predict when it should change gears based on whether the car is going uphill, downhill or around corners), a revised steering rack, larger 21-inch carbon alloy composite wheels and bigger brakes.
Inside, the classic diagonal weave dashboard fascia is replaced with vertical aircraft-grade aluminium inlays, which are bonded in carbon fibre and finished with six coats of lacquer, before being hand-polished.
