5 Cars To Look Out For At Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2024

It's that time of year again where the Goodwood estate is taken over for 4 days of non-stop motoring action. From the latest Hypercars to the Formula One cars of the 80s & 90s, the Festival of Speed has it all. In this article, we take a look at 5 cars we look forward to seeing at this years Goodwood FOS and hopefully at our showroom in the not too distant future.

1 - Porsche 911 992.2

Porsche unveiled the updated 992 varient back on the 28th May 2024, but this will be the first time it makes its dynamic debut in front of the public. Now powered by an all-new 3.6L flat 6 with 2 electric motors, the updated 992 is not a hybrid like those we are used to, but rather treat it more as a performance enhancement. One e-motor is located in the turbo, whereas the other in a more conventional location, at the end of the PDK gearbox. All of this to aid performance, rather than range or emissions. Along with the e-motors, the 992.2 comes with the usual aero tweaks we are have been used to from Porsche. Aero flaps in the front grille help to reduce drag and aid cooling, diffusers under the front bonnet & wings which help channel the air flow, thinner rear lights, rear air inlets and a twin exit exhaust system. Changes have also been made inside, the once analogue rev counter has now been replaced with a digital one, as well as the removal of the turn key to start, synonomous with previous 911s.

2 - BMW M5 Hybrid

The outgoing generation of the BMW M5 was a fan favourite here at European Prestige UK, having sold various examples and specifications over the years. So when BMW announced they were releasing a new M5, it peaked our interest. The G90 BMW M5 was launched on the 25th June 2024, with the main talking point coming from a new hybrid system. Up front is a familiar 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8, now with hybrid assistance. The new hybrid system can either work independantly or as a combined unit. In electric mode, the M5 is an EV with 195bhp and a top speed of 87mph and a range of 43 miles. In the sportiest setting, the V8 & electric motor work together to produce 717bhp and propel the M5 from 0-62mph in just 3.5 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 190mph.

3 - Aston Martin Valiant

Comissioned by two-time Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso, the Aston Martin Valiant will be debuted and driven up the hill by the Spaniard himself. Based on Aston Martin's Valour, the Valiant is a limited run track focused car of just 38 units. Taking the Valour's 5.2L Twin-Turbo V12, pairing it to a manual gearbox and increasing the power to 735bhp, the Valiant takes the muscle car base of the Valour and turns it up to 11. Featuring a carbon fibre body, as well as, front splitter, all new brakes, aero discs for the wheels, carbon fibre F1 inspired side skirts, fixed rear wing, a bigger diffuser and 4 exhaust pipes, the Valiant is clearly set up for the track.

4 - Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology

You may have seen this car already on social media doing the famous 'G Turn'. A function that allows the user to spin the left and right wheels in opposite directions to perform a tank like turn on the spot. Due to the electric motors, the G580 EQ will benefit offroad. With increased torque, better stability due to the lower centre of gravity and 850mm of wading clearance. The electric G Wagon also has 4 gearboxes, with each corner getting its own motor & 2 speed gearbox (high & low range). With 580bhp, the G580 will accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and gets a claimed range of 285 miles.

5 - Bugatti Tourbillon

The Chiron successor had a tough act to follow, but somehow the Bugatti Tourbillon does just that. Just 250 will be built and with a pricetag of €3.8 million, it certainly takes Bugatti to the next level. With the introduction of Mate Rimac as Bugattis' new CEO, we knew that the next Bugatti would introduce electrification in some way. Gone is the Chirons 1500bhp, quad-turbo W16, in favour of a Cosworth developed 8.3L V16 with 3 e-motors. All of this comes together to produce 1,775bhp and a top speed of 276mph. 0-62mph is dispatched in just 2 seconds with 0-249mph being taken care of in less than 25 seconds. Inside, the Tourbillon doesn't feature any obvious screens, these are hidden away out of sight until needed. The dashboard has taken inspiration from swiss watchmaking, where the cogs and mechanisms are on display, while the rev counter is built into the speedometer. There is also a fixed-hub steering wheel, ensuring the dashboard is not obstructed by any spokes of the steering wheel and providing the driver clear visibility.
